About

Cartoonist?

I work as a business tutor and self-employment adviser in prisons, helping people turn ideas into something they might actually be able to make a living from.

Before that, I spent years working as an editorial illustrator. Somewhere along the way I realised that what I really wanted to do was make cartoons.

I’ve recently started contributing to Private Eye, which has been a long-held ambition, but that’s only one part of it. I’ve got a much wider range of ideas I’m developing — some satirical, some observational and some surreal

Basically, I like ideas, drawing, making people laugh and helping people work out what they could do next.

I live in St Helens which has a local landmark called Dream. A huge sculpture of a stretched head coming out of the ground, symbolising the spirit emerging out of the coal fields. Unfortunately it looks very different if viewed from afar.
